Leak-down testing corner by corner, compressor output and duty cycle, valve block function, height sensor calibration, and the difference between a $400 fix and a $1,600 one.
You walked out this morning and the truck is sitting on its bump stops with a suspension fault on the dash, and the first quote you got was a tow plus a dealer appointment two weeks out. Before anyone hooks a chain to it: a Range Rover that settles overnight is usually a leaking air spring or a tired compressor, and both of those get fixed in your driveway. I am a mobile Range Rover mechanic covering all of Broward County. Air suspension and EAS diagnosis, compressors, valve blocks, air springs, cooling leaks, electrical drain, brakes — done where the truck is parked, most of it the same day.
I am the owner-operator of Zxotic Auto Mobile, a mobile mechanic covering Broward County, and Range Rover is one of the two badges I know best alongside BMW. If you want the wider picture, see European car repair in Broward. Flat labor of $100–$125 per hour rather than dealer rate, parts quoted separately, and the whole number approved before I start anything. Cash and Zelle.

Range Rover Diagnostics Done at the Truck
A generic scanner reads a suspension fault code and stops there. It will not tell you whether the compressor is worn, the valve block is leaking internally, or one air spring has a pinhole. Those are three different repairs at three very different prices, so I test the system instead of guessing at it.
Thermostat housings, crossover pipes, water pumps and expansion tanks — especially on the 5.0 supercharged V8, where plastic cooling parts and Florida heat are a bad combination.
Parasitic draw testing to find the module that will not go to sleep, plus charging system testing, grounds, connector corrosion and CAN communication faults.
Pads, rotors, wear sensors, electronic parking brake actuator faults, and the resets and relearns the truck needs afterwards to stop complaining.
Range Rover Repairs I Do at Your Location
The jobs that actually come in, all handled where the truck sits:
- Air springs and air suspension leaks — the corner that drops overnight. Leak-down tested to find which one, then replaced on-site. Rear air springs are the most common on L322 and L405, front on the Sport.
- Suspension compressor and valve block — a compressor that runs constantly is a compressor that is about to die, usually because it has been fighting a leak for months. Replacing the compressor without fixing the leak just kills the new one.
- Height sensor and calibration faults — the truck sits crooked or refuses to change ride height. Often a sensor or a linkage rather than the air system at all.
- Cooling system leaks — thermostat housings, crossover pipes, water pumps and expansion tanks. See overheating help, thermostat replacement and radiator replacement.
- Battery drain and no-start — parasitic draw testing to find the module staying awake. Car won't start, battery replacement, alternator replacement.
- Brakes, rotors and wear sensors — these are heavy trucks and they go through brakes. Brake repair at your location in one to two hours.
- Electronic parking brake faults — the actuator on the rear calipers is a known failure point and it strands people in parking garages.
- AC diagnosis and repair — rear climate zones, blend doors, compressors and condensers. AC not blowing cold.
- Full-system diagnostics — every module scanned, not just the engine. Check engine light diagnosis.
Flat labor $100–$125/hr — not dealer rate. Parts quoted separately, full price approved before work begins.
Why Range Rovers Struggle in Broward County
These trucks are not as fragile as the internet says, but South Florida attacks them in three very specific places:
- Heat and UV age the air springs — an air spring is a rubber bladder that flexes thousands of times a day. Constant heat, humidity and sun harden that rubber years before mileage would. A pinhole at the fold line is the classic failure, and it is why South Florida Rovers with 50,000 miles need air springs while the same truck up north does not.
- Plastic cooling parts go brittle — same story as every European car down here, but the supercharged V8 runs hot to begin with and has more plastic in the coolant path. Thermostat housings and crossover pipes are the usual suspects, and a Range Rover that overheats is an expensive Range Rover.
- Humidity and salt work on the electrical side — a lot of modules, a lot of connectors, and coastal air that gets into all of them. Intermittent faults that come and go with the weather are usually corrosion, not a failed module, and swapping modules to chase them gets very expensive very fast.
- Trucks that sit for weeks at a time — a Rover parked for three weeks with a module that will not sleep is a Rover with a dead battery, and a dead battery on these produces a dashboard full of unrelated faults that send people chasing ghosts.
How It Works
- Call or text (203) 549-7058 — tell me the year and model, what it is doing, and exactly what the dash is showing.
- I drive to you — typically 45–90 minutes anywhere in Broward. Driveway, garage, condo lot, office park.
- Full scan and real testing — every module read, the air system leak-tested corner by corner if that is the complaint, then a firm number.
- Repair done the same visit — most air spring, compressor, cooling and electrical jobs finish in one trip. No tow, no two-week dealer wait.

RANGE ROVER SERVICE AT YOUR LOCATION — CALL NOWThe Range Rover Problems I See Most in Broward
Here is the honest list, in the order I get the phone calls.
Sitting on the bump stops in the morning. Number one by a wide margin. The truck is level when you park it and down on one corner by sunrise. That corner is leaking. Sometimes it is a fitting or a line, but most of the time it is the air spring itself — the rubber has hardened in the Florida sun and cracked at the fold. The system will usually still lift the truck when you start it, which is exactly why people keep driving it. The problem is that every one of those lifts is the compressor working overtime on a leak, and compressors that work overtime burn out. Fix the leak early and you keep the compressor. Ignore it for three months and you buy both.
A compressor that will not stop running. If you can hear it cycling at a stoplight, it is losing the fight. Replacing just the compressor without finding the leak is the most common expensive mistake on these trucks, and I see it regularly on vehicles that were already "fixed" somewhere else.
Coolant loss on the supercharged V8. Thermostat housings and the crossover pipe are the usual sources. You smell it before you see it, and the level warning comes and goes. These engines do not tolerate running low on coolant, so this is not one to defer through a summer.
The battery that dies every time it sits. Three weeks parked, dead truck, dashboard full of warnings that have nothing to do with the actual problem. That is a module not going to sleep, and it needs a parasitic draw test — not a third battery. I have been to trucks on their fourth battery where nobody ever tested the draw.
Parking brake fault in a garage. The electronic actuator on the rear calipers fails often enough that I keep the diagnosis in my back pocket. It usually strands people somewhere inconvenient because the truck will not release.
Intermittent electrical faults that follow the weather. Warning lights that appear on humid mornings and disappear by noon are corrosion in a connector or a ground, and they are maddening to chase if you are replacing parts instead of measuring voltage drop. This is the kind of work that pays to do properly once.
Sound like your truck? Call or text 203-549-7058 with the year and model. I can usually narrow it down on the phone before I load parts.
Buying a Used Range Rover in Broward?
Get it looked at first. A Rover with tired air springs, a worn compressor, a weeping thermostat housing and a parasitic draw can hand you $5,000 of work inside a year, and none of that shows up on a test drive around the block. I do pre-purchase inspections for $150 — full-system scan, air suspension leak-down, cooling and leak inspection, brakes and suspension. Cheapest money you will spend on the truck.
Looking for a Range Rover Mechanic Near You? That's Me.
If you searched "Range Rover mechanic near me" from Broward County, this is what I do. I am not a dealership that needs the truck for a week, and I am not a general shop that unplugs the battery and hopes the fault clears. I am one guy with a stocked van, the right diagnostic tool for these trucks, and the willingness to drive to your driveway to use it.
You skip the tow — which matters more on an air suspension truck sitting on its stops than on anything else I work on — you skip the two-week dealer wait, and you skip dealer labor rates. Flat $100–$125 per hour, diagnostics from $80 applied to the repair, one number before I start. Cash or Zelle.
And I will tell you straight when something does not belong in a driveway. Timing chain work on a 5.0, transmission internals and supercharger rebuilds go to a shop. I would rather point you to the right place than start a job I cannot finish properly at your house.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Range Rover dropped overnight and says suspension fault. Can you fix that at my house?
Usually yes, and this is my single most common Range Rover call. The car settling overnight is almost always a leaking air spring or a compressor that can no longer keep up. I diagnose the EAS system at your driveway, find which corner is leaking, and replace air springs, the compressor or the valve block on-site. No tow.
Which Range Rover and Land Rover models do you work on?
Full Size Range Rover L322 and L405, Range Rover Sport L320 and L494, Evoque, Velar, plus LR3, LR4 and Discovery. Tell me the year and model on the phone and I will tell you the known weak points for that specific one before I get there.
Is it worth fixing air suspension or should I convert to coils?
Almost always worth fixing properly. Conversion kits look cheap up front, but they throw permanent faults, ruin the ride the car was designed around, and hurt resale badly. A leaking air spring is a straightforward repair. I will give you an honest number for the correct fix before you decide.
Why do Range Rovers have so many problems in Florida?
Heat and humidity. Air spring rubber ages faster in constant heat and UV, plastic cooling components get brittle, and humidity works on electrical connectors and grounds. These are heat-cycle failures, not mileage failures, which is why low-mileage South Florida Rovers still develop them.
My battery keeps going dead on my Range Rover. Is that normal?
No, but it is common. These cars have a lot of modules and if one does not go to sleep properly it will drain the battery in a few days. The fix is a parasitic draw test to find which circuit is staying awake — not a third replacement battery. I do that test at your house.
Diagnostics start at $80 and apply to the repair. Labor is a flat $100–$125 per hour instead of dealer rate, and parts are quoted separately with the full price approved before I start. Cash and Zelle.
